We are thrilled to have been awarded £428,526 in National Lottery funding to support our work over the next three years in and around Cirencester. The funding will go towards running our Community Wellbeing Service which supports people struggling with poor mental health, wellbeing and employment issues.
The Churn Project, started in 2001, supports anyone in the community who is at a point of crisis or transition in their lives or experiencing loneliness or mental health issues. Last year we directly supported 1,550 people from across the community through a mix of group activities and one-to-one support.
The continued funding from The National Lottery Community Fund will enable The Churn Project to carry on finding practical solutions to the issues people face, improve their wellbeing and make them feel less isolated. Our Community Wellbeing support includes mental health walking groups, community shed projects in South Cerney and Cirencester, young people creative groups, employability support and wellbeing programmes.
Sarah Bourne, Chief Executive Officer of The Churn Project says: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund recognises our longstanding work in the Cirencester community and beyond. Against the backdrop of the cost-of-living crisis, a reduction in government support and a rising need for mental health and wellbeing this funding will help us continue our valuable support for years to come.”
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. Thanks to them, last year (2023/24) The National Lottery Community Fund awarded over half a billion pounds (£686.3 million) of life-changing funding to communities across the UK, supporting over 13,700 projects to turn their great ideas into reality.
